Ready to De-Clutter?

Are you ready to de-clutter and reorganize? Are there piles of papers or things scattered about? Do you find certain ‘friends’ cluttering your life with drama? Do you have space for quiet time, meditation and creating? Whether it is your physical space or your energetic space when you decide to de-clutter and reorganize you will have a renewed sense of peace and calm AND you will  have more space to create in.

De-cluttering  is different each time you do it. This week you might want to clean out and reorganize your closets, next week it could be clearing out old friends or  letting go of energies that are not in your best interest perhaps causing chaos or drama that isn’t yours.  No matter what it is, de-cluttering and reorganizing anything that doesn’t serve you in its present form is beneficial to your health and happiness.

This is truly a personal “do it yourself” project! After all, no one can really help you decide what is important to keep, what you’d like to get rid of or how you want to reorganize it. Most likely you can look around your physical space to clue you in to your energetic space. If things are piled up, unorganized, not prioritized and waiting for your attention in the physical,  take a look to see what is waiting for your attention etc. on an energy level. Your physical space is a direct reflection of your energetic space!

“Out of chaos comes order” ~Friedrich Nietzsche

How many times have you wanted to tackle the enormous task of cleaning out and organizing the closets, clearing off your desk, re-organizing, re-prioritizing or getting rid of those things you no longer use but never get to it? Have you ever started but couldn’t finish? There’s actually a very good reason these tasks are overwhelming. All clutter is energy and holds energy! In terms of your energetic space & relationships, clutter is the ‘pictures’ associated with those particular people or energies.

Physical items hold an abundance of energy. As you touch each item you are affected by the energies and memories held in those objects. You are literally getting bombarded with energy! Your psychic ability to feel energy in objects called psychometry and whether you realize it consciously or not you use this ability every time you touch something.

Forgive yourself if the task at hand feels overwhelming or you keep putting it off! It may indeed be simply because of all the energy you experience. Once you forgive yourself, take one step at a time. Clear out a small corner and see how much space you have! Delicately and with grace forgive those people or relationships you are ready to de-clutter from your life and clear them out.

Organize yourself around that which that nurtures your spirit and supports you.  Get rid of whatever you’ve thrown in the closet just because you weren’t using it and had no where else to put it! Open your eyes to what you can create by clearing out a space for it! De-clutter your life and care for YOU! ~Shine Your Light Debbie

It Takes Courage to Heal…

Photo courtesy of Debra S. Summers

It takes courage to heal with conscious awareness. When you choose to heal yourself and create change in your life you are choosing to uncover the truth and face your fears. You are choosing to face old hurts, invalidation and pain. You are choosing to peel back layers of other people’s ‘stuff’ that you’ve taken on as your own truth.

It takes courage to find freedom and be who you are because it means that you must face the fact that everyone in the world might not like you and you can’t heal or please everyone. It takes courage to decide to end taking responsibility for other people’s pain and healing process. You only have to be responsible for the choices you make, your energy and personal growth. This doesn’t make you a bad person! If someone doesn’t want to take responsibility and take the steps to heal themselves, there is really nothing you can do to help.

Those who don’t want to heal may criticize and invalidate you without ever having done the very thing that they  are criticizing you for doing. They don’t know what they’re talking about because they haven’t ever had the, “courage of their convictions.” They have not taken responsibility for their own healing and are content to live their lives in drama, judgement and according to the ‘status quo.’ It takes courage to stand out and be different; To shine and be happy; To stand up and say, “I have great value.”

When you take the steps to heal yourself you will find that any fear, invalidation, pain, failure and even sadness that you’ve held on to is full of resistance. You may also find that you haven’t wanted to fully face it. If you hold on and resist you fuel and give power to the pictures of your past which then leads to fearing what comes next and/or getting stuck.

Newsflash! Those images in your head have no power over you unless you give them power! It takes courage to face up to the fact that you have been giving power to the very thing that causes pain. It takes courage to let go of how you’ve lived and what you’ve based your life on up to this point. Healing shatters the limits  and uncovers ‘lies’ that at times are difficult to acknowledge.

Healing is a process and it takes a tremendous amount of courage to continue the process, BUT it is not so much the courage to get through the process as much as having the courage to start! Healing clears a space for you to bring more of your spirit and creativity ‘home’ into your physical body. In doing this you will have more energy AND more space to create in!

You don’t need anyone else’s permission to heal, it is your choice! All it takes is  the courage to begin the process. There is great value to taking the path of self-healing and the process is worth it. YOU are worth it! Be brave, have courage and you’ll awaken to a whole new world; A world you call home. Home of the free and the brave!~ Shine Your Light Debbie

~Giving & Receiving~For Life!

Drawing by Larry Green

There are just some days that renew ones faith in humankind.  They are days that are magical and serve to remind us of how the gifts we give and receive can impact our lives for the rest of our lives!

In a recent conversation with a dear friend’s husband, Larry Green, my thoughts about giving and receiving were rocked to the core. As a clairvoyant I’m blessed to work with a lot of givers and healers. I have always found it interesting how many people can give yet have difficulty receiving.   In all things there must be balance so to give you must be able to receive and visa versa! You also must be able to “have” what you are given.

“From landscapes to the human figure, I find beauty in people, places and things that others would find inappropriate; to not reject what others find different. This is what I try to achieve. Sometimes what makes us feel uncomfortable defines who we are.”  ~Larry Green

I’m not going to tell Larry’s story, I’ll let him do that and link it here when it’s done, but I will tell you about our conversation and a bit of background. Larry was in end stage renal failure and had to have dialysis 3 times a week while waiting for a kidney. Our conversation took place only a few days before he was to receive a kidney transplant from an altruistic donor. Larry is not related to the angel woman who was donating and in fact only met her because of her self-less decision to give him one of her kidneys.  A true gift of life for sure!

As Larry was telling me his story and how he found his donor I was struck by the enormity of it. This woman was willing to go into surgery and give a complete stranger one of her kidneys! Seriously, that brings the meaning of giving to a whole new level! She could literally save a life by giving from her body consciously, without reservation and no strings attached. Nothing expected in return. I don’t know about you but I really don’t think I could do something like that for someone I’ve never met. This woman truly is an angel who walks the earth!

I voiced my complete admiration for this woman to Larry and as if my heart wasn’t full enough from hearing about her, Larry went on to tell me his feelings about it. This woman quite literally was giving him a new life! I could hear the depth of emotion in his voice as he not only told me how grateful he is but that he felt a great deal of responsibility to honor and care for his gift.  He told me that now he not only must care for himself and his body but that he is also caring for another person whose gift and energy now lives inside of him.  This takes receiving and caring for one’s body to a whole new level!

There are few gifts in this world that are greater than the gift of life. I know from personal experience about the gift of life. My Dad had a heart transplant in 1991. Although he passed in 2001 the heart that he received gave him (and US) 10  years he otherwise would not have had.

I urge you to look into and consider the gift of organ donation.  Registering gives those who are waiting for transplants hope. For more information and/or to register in your state: U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services For information on altruistic donation visit Living Kidney Donor Network.

You don’t need to be an altruistic donor or to have received a transplant to know how important it is to appreciate and care for the gifts you receive; Or how giving cleanly can bring you the greatest joy of knowing you gave new life to another but maybe by reading this your perspective will shift and you’ll have a change of  heart! :-) ~Shine Your Light Debbie

Larry Green is  an artist and friend based in Chicago. Both he and his donor are both recovering and doing well. You can contact Larry via his website at http://Larrywgreen.com

This is my 100th blog post! Gratitude and appreciation to all of you for supporting and reading this blog each week! Thank you from the depths of my heart!

Are You an Energetic Punching Bag?

Have you ever felt like a punching bag or magnet for punishing energy? You know what I’m asking here! It’s those times when you were feeling pretty good, went into a meeting or family gathering and walked out like Muhammed Ali just delivered a knock-out punch and laid you out in the boxing ring.

Your head is ringing, eyes are blurry, everything seems to overwhelm you and all you want to do is curl up in a corner and take a nap even though nobody actually touched your physical body.  I’m pretty clear that at one time or another each of us has experienced this or something like it! When you finally get back into your own space, you are left wondering what happened, if it was you that caused it or you get angry and blame the person (or group) who ‘did it to you’. Often it causes you to feel like a powerless victim.

If you have ever asked why you feel punished like this, you might want to take a look at what it is that you are resisting! Resistance is an interesting energy to explore.  Energy gets thrown around all the time and you can’t control what others do whether it be in the body or energetically. The reason energy ’sticks’ or feels like a knock-out punch (whack) has everything to do with how much you are resisting!

In fact, resistance acts as a magnet for punishment and what you resist, persists! The same goes for if someone ‘pushes your buttons’ (this is a figure of speech). When a sensitive spot is hit, if you resist it’s going to feel like someone just stuck a knife in you. The good news is when you clear the energy of resistance the punishment  begins to clear as well.

You are not powerless nor do you have to fight or try to control the energy of others.  Your power lies in the ability to neutralize resistance to the energies or pictures that YOU are working on in your own life. The first thing to do when you experience a knock-out punch is to take time in meditation to find those places you resist. Be extra gentle with yourself and bring in lots of forgiveness.

A windmill does not resist the wind! It allows the wind to spin its sails and converts it to energy that is generated.  You too can stand tall like a windmill allowing the winds to blow and not resisting. You can use the winds as a learning experience and renewable resource to transform yourself!

You too like the windmill can use what you learned to further you on your life’s path so you are generating energy instead of being the effect of it! You can also resist and fight the winds…it’s YOUR choice~Shine Your Light Debbie

Marriage Vows for Spirit & Body

Falling in love and getting married is a wonderful thing. When you meet that special someone, stars shine in your eyes, your thoughts become romantic dreams, everything looks beautiful and all seems right in the world. As your love grows with each passing moment, you may make the decision to get married and spend the rest of your life together. Marriage is the commitment that says you will be together ‘until death do you part.’

Although ceremonies and vows differ by culture, religion or custom, wedding vows are promises; Commitments to love, honor and cherish, in sickness and in health, through good times and bad, for richer or poorer etc. It doesn’t matter if you marry using customary vows, write your own or make an agreement under the stars on a remote beach with just the two of you. You are pledging and proclaiming your love and commitment to one another by agreement.

Marriage is a sacred space between two people both spiritually and physically.  A union that says you will journey together on the path of life. It’s interesting to note that most understand the concept of two people coming together in this way yet don’t consider the concept of body & spirit union and making those very same vows! OK I know, there should be a big ‘gotcha’ there :-)

Your spirit and body are already in union and ‘until death do you part’ is pretty much a given but what commitments have you made to your body?  Do you  respect, love, honor and cherish it? Has what was once a wonderful relationship become stale and abusive or did you never really love your body because you were too fat, or thin, or your nose is too big etc? Are you constantly invalidating, judging, ignoring or punishing your body and seeing only the imperfections? If you are not loving, cherishing and honoring your body you are in an abusive relationship!

Commit to loving your body and re-new your vows!

This might seem silly but you only have one body and it really is ‘until death do you part’! Like any good marriage it takes commitment to caring for and loving it each day. Eating healthy foods, listening to your body and giving it what it needs, getting enough rest, daily exercise and pampering yourself are certainly all part of a life long marriage.

It’s not that you have to like every single part of your body, but it’s important to have and accept the body that your spirit co-habitats with.  Think of it this way, would you continue to live with someone or even have them as a friend,  who treats you like you sometimes treat your body? As spirit, you made an agreement to be born into this particular body, at this particular time, to learn certain lessons…yes YOU chose your body before you were born and it’s up to you to care for it!

Pronounce and proclaim your marriage!

Look in the mirror and say the following words or write your own as they apply to you:

“I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and listen to you all the days of my life. I promise to have respect and honor you, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.”

Enough said :-) ~Shine Your Light Debbie

Let the sun shine in & set yourself free!

Photo courtesy of my friend Claire

There is a purpose and meaning to everything in life.. Loving yourself and letting go is actually a very self-less act! We heal others through random acts of kindness, through our compassion, forgiveness and standing up for those who don’t have a voice. Letting go when it comes to our closest and most intimate relationships is the most difficult yet it is a powerful self-less act of giving to others and loving yourself!

Let’s face it, letting go is hard sometimes! One of the reasons is because there is almost always some sort of resistance in play or what you want to let go of would just go gracefully and without struggle. What if the healing your most intimate relationship, the one with yourself, is really about the letting go of resistance? What if letting go was the most gracious and self-less act of giving? What if it was the most loving way of healing not only yourself but someone else?

Letting go and releasing energy IS the ultimate in terms of self- love AND a self-less act of kindness that affects both you and those around you! It is the greatest way to respect yourself and a gift that respects that you (and/or someone else) are exactly where you should be at this time under whatever circumstances are going on. Holding on to energy among other things is about ‘lack’ and means you don’t trust yourself to be able to create something new.

The release of hopes, dreams and good times are just as important as letting go of pain. It frees you and expands the space for you to create more hopes, dreams and good times, not to mention it also puts the vibration of those things into the universe so they can come back to you effortlessly!  Much of what we hold on to is steeped in fear of the unknown. What will life be like if we let go of this or that? Letting go is a gift of FREEDOM.

“If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.”~Richard Bach

This is not just about intimate relationships. You are always relating in some way to everything. Consider that setting “someone” or “something”free allows you more space and freedom. If you’re holding on to the energy of someone else, or someone else’s problems and your focus is on the shadow and not the light,  it affects your relationship with yourself as well as ALL your relationships!

Set yourself free and put your feet upon a path of self-love by letting go! The light is streaming in for you to fill up with if you choose to let it in! Whatever you hold on to, let it go! There is always light so let the sun shine in! If you’d like some perspective, take a look at the photo on this post. The shadow is teeny tiny in the background as the light fills the bottle! ~Shine Your Light Debbie

THE FLAME OF FREEDOM

The shift from the age of communication to the age of awareness IS  happening. If you don’t believe it, all you need do is look at the news.  It is not only happening but accelerating and each one of us is a part of it. There is a revolution going on in the world as people awaken to truth and demand freedom. The freedom to BE and make decisions that affect their very lives.

We see images from Egypt and Libya as people rise up to demand freedom from tyranny. We see people fighting to create a democracy where each person has a right to be heard. There is not only an awakening but a firm belief that freedom is worth taking a stand for…and it is! It is certainly by no coincidence that at this particular time there is freedom afoot all over the world.

For centuries people have been enslaved in some form or another. Chains of bondage exist because judgement, ego and power over (or against) others is mistaken for truth and righteousness.  Judgements are sometimes passed from generation to generation which unfortunately keeps them very much alive.  Addiction to food, work, sex, drugs, alcohol, smoking…all of these create chains that bind and control your life. Those controls are difficult to get rid of because at some level there is an agreement to keep them in place.

Open your eyes to what controls you for freedom does not come about by chance. You must wake up to the truth, follow your heart and set your feet upon a journey where freedom of thought, freedom of spirit and the freedom to be who you are frees you from the controls. NOTHING can imprison your mind, your thoughts, your spirit or your happiness unless you allow it.

When you have inner freedom, no matter your outer circumstances (human experiences) your spirit still shines brightly!  With neutrality and forgiveness, you start a healing process which takes you ever closer to breaking free of the ties that bind you. Finding where you are not free is the first step toward freedom and all it takes is turning your attention within to see the first spark and recognizing who you really are. Your essence as spirit is like a candle flame in your heart that once ablaze lights up the darkness!

Although in the beginning it might seem like a revolution and fight, your flame represents freedom that leads to PEACE within! Awaken the flame and the chains begin to dissolve. The more you fuel your flame with self-love, respect, gratitude and forgiveness the more it grows until it is a beautiful bonfire of light dancing within and creating an aura of bright light around you. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!~Shine Your Light Debbie

Got Space?

Having space on both  an energetic and physical level is pretty amazing. When you have your space there is room to breathe, room to create AND there is  space for dreams to become reality!

Think about it for a moment. How can you bring something in if there’s no space for it? It’s astounding how much space we give away on a day-to-day basis. Not only do we give away our “time and energy”, we hold on to “things” that have a great deal of energy attached to them and those things take up space.

A few weeks before the end of the year I decided to clear out and create more space in my condo. For  some time I’ve wanted to start this task but honestly it felt overwhelming! This time I was bound and determined to get things in order. What I decided to do was look at it from the perspective of moving. My thought was to go through every inch of my home and clear out anything I wouldn’t take with me if I was moving. This is different from just organizing.

I’ve lived in the same place for many years and let’s just say things found their place hidden in drawers, on shelves, in closets and some were in plain sight. I couldn’t part with certain items because of sentimental value, I might wear it (or use it) again, and some were those “one of a kind” special things. I’ve never considered myself a pack rat but seriously did I really need the VHS tapes, the picture in a cracked frame I’ve had semi hidden behind a door or clothing I haven’t worn in 10 years?! I’m still amused about getting rid of  jewelry from my late teens…let’s just say my niece got a bag of fantastic retro jewelry. :-)

Why do we hold on to ‘things’? Initially the intention is that these things are still useful so we keep them but let’s face it there are certain things we have difficulty getting rid of. Those ‘things’ fill a void. They make us feel better when we look at them because they bring back memories of a time long past.  Having lots of ‘things’ make us feel abundant.

The fact of the matter is that all those ‘things’ hold bits of your energy AND take up space. They also signify limits and lack. In terms of “lack” you are actually telling the universe that you don’t have enough resources to replace what your getting rid of. Why keep the shirt or pair of shoes you haven’t worn in years? Get rid of them and find something you love even more! If something hasn’t been used in years it’s time to clear it out! Living in abundance means knowing you can create something new! This doesn’t mean getting rid of memories or things that truly have a special meaning . It means clearing out ‘things’ that you will never use again to create more physical space and as a bonus, you collect up YOUR energy in the process!

For me the experience was a wonderful trip down memory lane.  I gathered up my energy and cleared out the ‘things’ that had no longer held meaning (or my energy ;-) )and were taking up space.  I let go of old hopes and dreams knowing that by doing so I would have a space for new hopes and dreams to become real. If something I’ve said here resonates with you, take the steps to make more space for yourself on an energetic AND physical level. Clear out those ‘things’ that no longer have meaning and merely take up space in your life and/or your home.

Clearing physical space is very freeing. It brings your ‘space’ into present time and makes space for new hopes & dreams to become real!  OK, so I couldn’t part with the 50 lbs of beads from Mardi Gras but that’s a story for another day. :-) ~Shine Your Light Debbie

Be Gentle with Yourself….

Taking the road less traveled and healing yourself is not always easy. As you awaken, you not only become aware of the pain and invalidation you are holding on to but in the process of clearing you must face it for a moment so you can release it.

No matter where you are on your spiritual path, how enlightened or self-aware you feel, your place as a teacher, lightworker or student, you are in a growth process. There is always more to uncover and discover. Of course this is a good thing because it means you’re alive. :-) It also means that while you are acknowledging and going through this kind of growth you need to be extra gentle with yourself!

Pain, hurt, invalidation and fear buries itself deep within your psyche. The energy resides in your physical body as well as your spiritual body. It is in the cells of your body, stored as excess body weight, hidden behind a smile or an energetic facade.

While we all want to grow our self-awareness,  heal and release what we are holding on to there is a mechanism that kicks in when we hit those pain pictures and our attention automatically shifts until we are ready to clear them. Again this is not a bad thing because it allows each of us to clear at our own pace.

When you uncover any sort of pain pictures  and begin clearing them from the spiritual part of you it does take some time to clear in the physical. In spirit there is no time or space. Energy clears instantly. The physical body takes time to heal and in some cases the energy is in physical form as in getting sick or needing surgery.

The important thing to remember when embarking on a journey of spirit is to be gentle with your body.  It’s going through a lot! Give it nourishing and healthy foods, make time for soothing moments of quiet and truly pamper yourself.  Physical exercise helps the process along as well! It gets you connected to your body but keep in mind that getting enough sleep and rest is just as important.

This is also the time for meditating and turning your attention within more not less. It will help you get through your growth period faster and easier.  As a spiritual being you are strong and wise beyond words. You will never put yourself through something you can’t handle but sometimes asking for a little help goes a long way! Don’t be afraid to ask for help and by all means if energy has manifested in the physical see your Doctor!

The dewdrop in the photo posted is delicate yet strong enough to hold together the teeny water molecules that make it a dewdrop.  It allows itself to BE a dewdrop shimmering in the morning light. It trusts and accepts help from the flower petal to keep it safe until the process of being a dewdrop is complete.

You are indeed like the dewdrop. Be gentle with your body and give it what it needs. Trust and have faith in your strength of spirit and know that mind, body and spirit will guide you toward what you need to help you through the growth process. ~Shine Your Light Debbie

Hey you with your shiny light….

As I write this blog I’m watching one of my favorite holiday classics Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer“. I settled in to watch with the innocence and delight of a child.

I watched as Rudolph resisted covering up his beautiful shiny nose then was bullied & shunned for the very thing that in the end made him the hero who saved Christmas.

As Rudolph walked away from his peers in isolation he began to sing:

“Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nit wit!
I’m an adorable reindeer
Why don’t I fit in? “

Then there’s the island of misfit toys. Those toys KNEW they would be loved by children if given the chance. Instead they were effectively thrown away and banished to an isolated island.

At one time or another I think we have all felt like we didn’t fit in and decided to isolate. I can tell you that growing up sensitive to and seeing energy pretty much put me in the feeling like a misfit category many times!

When I started taking meditation and clairvoyant classes
I remember feeling like it was the first time a really belonged. There I was sitting in a room with other people who had grown up feeling like “misfits” because we could see or feel things others weren’t aware of;  Not because there was something wrong with us!

Now ponder this question: “Misfit” according to whom? The bullies? The haters? The naysayers?  There is no such thing as a misfit! Although you may not fit in to this group or that, if you are different, it is your uniqueness that is special!

If you feel shunned, see things from a different perspective, have a brilliant idea that is invalidated or have tried to fit in to a particular “click” maybe it has nothing to do with YOU! Maybe those feelings stem from something you were once told,  you were laughed at or even bullied. If you took on those energies and haven’t cleared them out, you are not living as YOU are.

Trying to be like someone else doesn’t work. Trying to fit in to a group doesn’t work. YOU being YOU does! Considering yourself beautiful, unique and special,  will attract those that appreciate who you are.  Bathe yourself in a golden light to help bring forth your inner light. It is YOUR light that very well may guide, inspire and illuminate the path of another!

Your true spiritual essence shines unlike anyone else’s and when you embrace that uniqueness and love the very thing that makes you different, your spirit grows and expands with that vibration. It fills you up with YOU instead of those other energies that you’ve held on to for so long! So….

‘ Some would even say you glow! Hey you with your shiny light, be a guide and inspire tonight! And all the ones that join you will loudly shout it out with GLEE, living from who you are, is the only and best place to be!’
