How Do You Quiet the Soundtrack in Your Head?

SoundwaveHave you ever had a song pop into your head and you can’t get it out? Otherwise know as an earworm, the song plays internally and could be “catchy” or “annoying”. It is repeated until you find a way to break the cycle of repetition.

What if the “earworm” is not a song but a soundtrack of thoughts that run through your head that keep you in the past, or feeling like you lack something, or they are full of fear? How do you break the cycle of repetition? The realization and awareness that there IS a soundtrack is a great start!

I recently saw a status posted on Facebook that really resonated with me and presented a wonderful answer.  With permission from my friend I wanted to share it and I think you’ll see why. He presents a wonderful way of getting back to yourself and connecting with the present by doing something as simple as watering a tree…

“I do at Times have a Soundtrack running through my Head.
The Conversation goes like this:
I am Missing Something.(When was the Last Time I was in Paris)
I am Missing Someone.(Usually My Mother)
I need Something More.(Another Book or Gadget I will buy and leave on the Shelf for a Year before I look at it if at All)
I am not Enough(Someone else seems More Up to whatever is going On)
I do not have Enough(Always at the End of the Month Bill Time)
Tonight I was Grateful to Water the Tree’s, be in Nature and put my Attention there.
Like I said a few minutes ago…need to do that More….”~Ellis Martin

While yours (or mine) might not be exactly like the one above I’m sure you can relate to the ‘soundtrack’ about missing something or someone and/or not being or having enough. Those things run through my head every day and I’m guessing if two of us have a similar soundtrack (with different answers of course) then many more of you out there have you own soundtrack as well.

The beauty of the post is the realization that there are moments we need to connect with nature and feel the peace of that connection. Our connections and grounding in present time don’t have to be complicated and full of effort. Grounding in present time can be as simple as watering a tree. Yes, I think Ellis is right when he says ‘need to do that more’. Perhaps all of us need to quiet the soundtracks, feel the earth beneath our feet and listen to the sounds of silence more often.

The peace of watering the trees, being in nature and having your attention in the present allows you to connect with yourself in a whole new way. It allows for a moment of calm and turns off the ‘soundtracks’ in your head as you enjoy that moment. The soundtrack of life can be loud and deafening.  The ‘quiet’ communing with nature could be exactly what you need to connect and commune with yourself. Maybe it’s time to  listen to the sounds of silence.~Shine Your Light Debbie

*2013* Clear Out the Old; Ring in the TRUE YOU!

Happy2013“There are no new truths, but only truths that have not been recognized by those who have perceived them without noticing….”~Mary Therese McCarthy (Author)

As we wind down from a tumultuous 2012 if there’s one thing we have in common about this past year it is; The shift is here and we are ALL in a growth period!

2013 is here and it’s the time take responsibility for those things we’ve been happily unconscious of and take charge of our lives based on TRUTH! It is time to forgive yourself for unconsciousness and make space for YOU. Time to clear out the old and ring in the true you!

2012~ The year of waking up

I can confidently say I’m not sad to see 2012 come to a close. It’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions, challenging situations and shocking truths as the darkness of lies was cleared in a blaze of light. The awakening, at times, wasn’t pleasant, smooth or gentle. Through the media and social media we stood (seemingly helpless) watching the economy of the world crumble because of greed. We watched stories about innocent children murdered and we bore witness to more anger and division in the world than I recall in my lifetime. Sadly, the road to truth means the energy of lies and unconsciousness must clear and as they do we must endure the growth period that comes along with it.

I could go month by month and do a year in review but I’ll leave that to the general media sources. Suffice it to say that as we awakened to more and more truth we began to question old assumptions about life and that there were many things that we didn’t even know we didn’t know. We discovered places where we were unconscious or things we simply ignored as we went on our merry way. We started to scream NO MORE and as we (hopefully) let go we scrambled to find meaning, forgiveness and peace for what we previously allowed to become our truth because we “perceived without noticing…”

Of course there were also moments of great joy and heartwarming stories as we rallied together to support those in need and stand up for those who, in that moment, were not able to stand up for themselves. The light of truth is not only to light up the darkness but to make us aware of the light! Many put in motion lifelong dreams that will bloom and grow in 2013. As we find our own truth, bring more of our own energy in and shine our inner light we teach others how to do it by our very presence. We are all magnificent beings of light and love and there are many beautiful stories we saw, shared and brought us hope but it is time to clear out the good, bad or indifferent to make space for the NEW!

2013 The year of honoring yourself!

As we move into 2013 it is more important than ever to question old assumptions which limit experiences, creativity, abundance and capacity to love. Awakening is not just about waking up. It’s about seeing and becoming aware of your energy and what you’re doing with it. Examining where your energy, thoughts and attention have been allows you to shift into a new space. In 2013 we will see more people take their spiritual steps to become “whole” again. (Not because they are broken but because they cleared out old energies, addictions and assumptions then brought more of their spiritual energy into their bodies.) In my clairvoyant reading sessions I’m seeing healers and light workers who are being asked to step up even more. What’s so beautiful about it is that many of them were unaware of the impact they have on others and they do not consider themselves healers or light workers!

2013 is a year of calling back any of the life force energy you’ve given away. It will be a time to get in alignment with your truth. There is no more “I’ll do it tomorrow” in 2013. Tomorrow is here. There is no need to predict the future because your future lies in your own hands.  2013 is the year to take charge of your life and destiny. It is the year to express your creativity and make your life’s work about making your life work.

When you see how truly magnificent and powerful you are when you honor yourself and align with your truth there comes a realization that there isn’t anything you can’t do or have. You are and always have been the creator of your life. It is time to breathe. It is time to meditate and heal. Clear out the old with hope for a brilliantly bright future and ring in the new year by fully bringing in your life force energy and integrating your passion and love and lust for life into your life.

Happy New Year! May you be blessed on your journey and love all you do and all you are. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous year filled with light and love! ~Shine Your Light Debbie
