What’s Your Story?

What story do you see? Is it two old people staring lovingly at each other or a young man playing guitar serenading a woman?

Each one of us has a story. In fact we all live our lives according to many stories. There is the story we tell ourselves and the story we tell others. There is the story of your life as you experienced it and the story that others perceive.

Yes, we all have a story but the truth of it is that a story is illusion. It is a recollection of experiences based on our own perceptions and feelings. Others will have a different perception based on their own feelings and experiences even if they are a part of your story.

It’s not that a particular experience didn’t have an effect on your life. In fact it may have had a profound affect but if you continue to hold on to and live your life based on that story it will be difficult if not impossible to move on and write a new one.

I’ve always loved watching those TV sitcoms where a situation is recalled by several of the characters. Each one has a different version of the same occurrence. Somewhere in the middle is the truth.

Entertain for a moment that perhaps the story you remember is YOUR version.  What is important about this? Well, if you define your life and current circumstances based on a story in effect you are living an illusion.

The truth of the matter is that the illusion may not even be YOUR story! It could be a story someone told you and the story sounded so plausible and certain that it completely changed your version. Your doubts allowed another’s certainty to become what you thought was the truth.

There is always a story and then there are the facts. Unless you are on a reality TV show with cameras rolling 24/7 keep an open mind when someone tells a story. It is their story, their personal version as seen through the “filters” of what they were thinking and feeling at the time. While there is truth according to them, there is also your truth.

Is your story a mystery? A drama? A Fairy Tale? A romance novel? Is it an independent film or an ongoing series? Whatever and however you describe your story, it is just that…a story. Your story is not who you are and someone else’s story is not who they are.

Look beyond the story. Find reality and truth not by defining yourself or others from a story but by seeing and acknowledging true essence and spirit. Spirit is  not in the deeds we do nor the story we tell. It is present in the intention behind those deeds and the light we shine from within.

Seeing and acknowledging your spirit and the spirit of others removes the illusion of a story. It allows you to free yourself and others from the story thus creating a space for everyone to shine in their brightest form! ~Shine Your Light Debbie

Are you embracing ALL of you?

Fact: Love, joy, happiness, and passion are energy vibrations. Fact: Boredom, apathy, sadness and ANGER are energy vibrations!

Yes, bodies get angry and/or sad no matter how much you don’t want them too! Can you have and embrace ALL of these?

This is an interesting question to reflect upon. We all have a full spectrum of emotions, feelings and energy vibrations that are not only a part of us but a part of being human.

Denying, ignoring or stifling any of these vibrations limits your experience and in essence you are denying a part of yourself. It also puts a limit on the opposite vibration.

Most of us are taught from a very young age not to get angry and to forgive those who have treated us badly. Forgiveness is wonderful BUT forgiving doesn’t make it OK for someone to treat you like a doormat or invalidate you.

You cannot control what others say or do but it IS ok to get angry! It is also OK to use your anger as a healing. Here comes the tricky part…allowing your anger to flow in YOUR space without lashing out or sending it out to someone.

Allowing your anger, or any other emotion or feeling for that matter, to flow through you is empowering. Giving yourself permission to have these feelings is a step toward growing and expanding your other feelings and emotions.

The reason I used anger as an example is because it is one of the emotions that many people have very little permission to have. For you it may be some other emotion.

Men are taught not to cry and women not to get angry…etc. The truth is that bodies have emotions!

We all want to keep our focus on the love & light within..at least I’m in hopes that all of you reading this want those vibrations in the forefront but are you truly experiencing ALL of them?

There is always a dichotomy and you can’t have one without the other. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Newton’s laws apply here too!

There is day and night, two sides to every coin, and a plethora of emotions & feelings each with a direct opposite that make up our very BEing-ness.

Having your awareness and embracing those dark parts of you, or as some would say negative vibrations,  as well as light & love gives you the ability to expand your human experience.

Embracing your anger and acknowledging it allows you to love that much more. Feeling your sadness allows you to be that much happier. Having a good cry makes the laughter that much more joyful. 🙂

You cannot nor is it necessary to control what you are feeling. Allow feelings & emotions to bubble up and BE. Feel your feelings & emotions, embrace them,  acknowledge them then release let them! 🙂

Embrace the reality of human experience! HAVE all that you are! BE who you are! Accept ALL your feelings and emotions as a part of you!~Shine Your Light Debbie
