Sending Love is No Longer Enough….

navigating-the-stars

The world we live in is changing rapidly and it is a challenge knowing how and when to respond when we see something we know is not right.

In the past, we may have silently sent love and light. We may have silently said prayers. Now, even though we must seemingly navigate in the dark without a clear guide, we cannot remain silent.

The following is Facebook post by my friend renowned Numerologist Alison Baughman. I echo her sentiments and wanted to share this important message.

“Recently I made a comment on Twitter after I read dozens of mean tweets about another person who happened to voice their opinion about Donald Trump. The only thing I said was that I was saddened by how uncivil the conversation was.

In a matter of a 24 hours, I was personally attacked and for whatever reasons these people felt the need to attack my looks, my work and my integrity. I wonder if people realize that words create Karma just as anything else we do? Social Media, coupled with a mentality stemming directly from this divisive election has become a cesspool . Many of us are saddened to our core about the negativity that seems to be intensifying and we struggle with how to conduct ourselves.

There comes a time where silence equates acceptance and agreement.
There comes a time where sending love and prayers is not enough. There comes a time where you have to stand up for what you believe in and become a spiritual warrior and fight the good fight.

We can start by standing up and being a voice against this bully mentality and if we see someone being berated on Social Media, do not pass by the conversation.
Say something.

“Don’t turn your face away.
Once you’ve seen, you can no longer act like you don’t know.
Open your eyes to the truth. It’s all around you.
Don’t deny what the eyes to your soul have revealed to you.

Now that you know, you cannot feign ignorance.
Now that you’re aware of the problem, you cannot pretend you don’t care.
To be concerned is to be human.
To act is to care.”~Vashti Quiroz-Vega

I hope you will consider forwarding this piece to your circles. We need each other and we must speak up and meet bullies with love. As Alison said “if we see someone being berated on Social Media, [I will also add-if you see someone berated in public] do not pass by the conversation.”

Ask for the help of those around you. Just today I saw another post where someone spoke up and asked for help from those around him. He said he felt like he had bonded with the others who immediately supported him.

It’s really true that once you’ve seen, you can no longer act as if you don’t know and it’s also true that once you are aware of the problem, you cannot pretend you don’t care. This is no longer a world where we have the luxury of not getting involved. It is no longer someone else’s problem. We must meet the bullying, berating and hate head on by speaking up with awareness, compassion and love.

Of course speaking up is scary but as my dear friend Jackie pointed out “To ask for help is courageous. To receive the help gives strength.” Yes we are navigating on unfamiliar ground but it’s not really dark. There are lots of stars to light our way.

The Sad Truth: It had to happen…now what?

Abraham Lincoln “I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.”~Abraham Lincoln

I have wanted to write this post for the past couple of weeks but I, like a great number of people, have found myself grieving as we say good-bye to our country as we know it.

Make no mistake we will prevail; we will survive. We will get through it and come out the other side with a greater capacity to love, a greater sense of unity and much more awake.

Many have compared what’s going on to the rise of Hitler and I agree.  I am Jewish and throughout my life I have seen and see all too clearly what bigotry, fear and hate does to people. Is this truly history repeating itself? There is no doubt in my mind we are experiencing the same beginnings.

It shatters my heart in a million little pieces to recognize the overwhelming (and very sad) part of what happened in the election is that it had to happen. In order to take a step up in our consciousness we had to shine a light on the that which was hidden and, somewhat silently, running in the back ground like a computer virus.

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”~Abraham Lincoln

It happened on our watch…

What is going on now is showing us that despite the progress and tolerance we thought we had, there is an underlying faction of people who are filled with hate due to ignorance and fear. This is not name calling. It is truth. These people, for whatever reason, feel marginalized or threatened by those they do not understand.

Make no mistake. They have always been there slowly stewing and adding fuel to their fire. They retreated into the shadows, pumping up their egos, growing their judgements and blaming their discourse on others while we were moving forward into the light. The crushing truth of why it needed to happen lies in a universal truth; any time there is a step up in vibration, the light shines into the shadows and what was hidden comes to the surface.

“There are no new truths, but only truths that have not been recognized by those who have perceived them without noticing.”~Mary McCarthy

We WILL prevail…

In order for us to take a step up and move forward, there needs to be a great healing. We also must sadly acknowledge what we may have pushed into our own shadows.

We must admit we didn’t hear what those who still experience racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia and bigotry were telling us; that it is alive and well and living among us. We must admit that what might have seemed like isolated incidences were not, in fact, isolated.

Many did not speak up because they were taught it’s dangerous to do so, others didn’t speak up due to the very real fear of retaliation and yet others DID speak up but, all to often, it fell on deaf ears.

Now what?

It’s time to come together and heal. It is time to speak up for what is right and just. No longer can we turn a blind eye to the truth. What happened in the election didn’t create racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia and bigotry. It gave it permission to come out of hiding.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”~Martin Luther King Jr.

Keep in mind that the energy we are seeing and experiencing is designed to isolate, divide and conquer everyone. This includes dividing those who would band together to stop it. There is strength in numbers and if we are divided against ourselves in any way, shape or form we further fuel the divide.

Each of us has a role to play in transmuting the hate into a thing of the past. Our collective roles begin with each of us looking within to shine a light on where we are divided with ourselves. When we are connected and conscious there is a cause and effect that happens in our outer world.

Step into the light

Whatever you choose to do, do it grounded. Do it consciously with certainty, resolve and loving intent. Seek out those who will help you heal. Take time to reset and regroup yourself daily. Take a social media break. Be kind to those who support you. If you think they should do more, lovingly tell them what you need.

If you find yourself overwhelmed by all of this you are not alone. Seek guidance and professional help if you need it. I launched a series of free (live) weekly meditations called Awakening Souls Meditations you can get access to online or by phone. Join us to release energy, heal the divide and re-connect with spirit.

Yes, each of us has a role to play. Choose yours consciously and with loving intent. Be sure to step out of the energy at least once a day then work diligently towards your goal. We’ve got a big task ahead and we will most certainly need our energy to return to love.~Shine Your Light Debbie
