Hey! Where’s the remote?

In this wonderful age of technology there are remote controls for everything. There are even remotes that control ALL the remotes so you only need one rather than one for each item.

They take care of changing channels, music, turning on your lights, and you can even start your car from the comfort of the chair you are sitting in!

I had to laugh when the new air conditioner in my bedroom came with a remote. Really now! My bedroom is only 16 feet across! Needless to say, I love using it.

I can lie in bed, change the temperature or turn it off without moving. I also get a kick out of it because it’s just plain ridiculous! Have we really turned into a society based on comfort and remote controls? 🙂

How about your life? Have you ever felt like someone had control over your life? If you’ve ever felt out of control, you may want to ask yourself; Whose control are you out of? Who holds the remote and changes the channel? Is it you?

Have you noticed that when you try to take time for yourself, meditate or god forbid create something new, how much energy there is that says you can’t change the program? Are there energies or emotions in your life that seem to take over?

If you feel as if something is controlling you, you might very well be right! There are many things that have been programmed into our lives. Some of those things are so ingrained within that it’s a challenge to distinguish what is  programming and what is our truth.

As you awaken and open up more to separating your truth from say, your mother’s or father’s programming, it can be uncomfortable. It can be especially difficult when it comes to relationships, jobs or even how you choose to live your life.

In many ways the economy is helping people change the channel to the program THEY want to watch. 🙂 I’ve seen attorneys become massage therapists, executives deciding to choose quality of life over bringing in money, and on an even broader scale, people are deciding to create or work on something they are passionate about rather than go back to a job that controlled them each day.

Earlier I mentioned that I thought my remote was ridiculous. On second thought, maybe it’s not! When you have a remote, it’s easy to change the channel! You just push the button and it instantly clears the old program to the one you want to see! Perhaps life is much the same.

When YOU hold the remote YOU are in control! You can change the program at will and with ease! Why not take a moment to see if YOU hold the remote. If not, take it back! Then if it’s time to change the channel, go ahead! There’s nothing stopping you when YOU are in control! 🙂 ~Shine Your Light Debbie

What’s behind the facade?

A Facade is typically one side of the exterior of a building, usually the front, but also sometimes the sides and rear that shows the most prominent and detailed architectural features.

The structure is breathtakingly beautiful with its detailed craftsmanship from the outside, but what’s on the inside can be very different.

What was once a beautiful interior may be in need of a bit of rehab if no one’s lived there or taken care of it for a while. It may be outdated. There could be cobwebs, layers of dust, and the need for some new paint! You get the idea here. 🙂

Appearances can be deceiving! Some people spend their lives making sure the details are perfect on the outside, yet  neglect the very thing that needs a little rehab and holds the key to true happiness. Maybe it’s time to open the door to the inside!

There is really nothing outside of you that is going to make you happy on the inside. Not material things, not the perfect lover, not your friends. An energetic facade is occasionally put up to show others how ‘happy’ you are but if you are hurting inside it actually takes a good deal of effort to hold up!

Perhaps it’s difficult to look behind the facade if there is garbage piled up, or storage boxes of pain you’ve been meaning to unpack but still carry with you. If so, get out your broom and dustpan, gold cloth and start sparkling up the inside! No time like the present to clean it out and clear the “stuff” piling up in the corner!

Keep in mind that it’s not always easy to unpack the boxes. There can be painful memories that come up. If your energy is stuck in these memories you have less of it present to create with in the NOW but once you start, like any rehab project, there’s no turning back and the results will be STUNNING! 🙂

Here’s where it gets fun! YOU are the general contractor! YOU are the designer! You get to sweep out, sparkle up and create your space with awareness! By shining and bringing your light inside, any darkness instantly disappears! Your bright shiny spirit acts as a new coat of paint on the walls!

In essence your rehab is really about clearing a space for YOU to come home to YOU! When you decorate your interior with YOU it shows on the outside as well! It isn’t necessary hold up a facade because the beautiful details on the outside ARE you!

In the Wizard of Oz Dorothy says “there’s no place like home.” When you are home and in your flow there is peace, happiness and comfort. Being aware and in the body IS your HOME SWEET HOME! ~Shine Your Light Debbie
