Let us join together in ACTIVE PRAYER~Reflections & Mourning for Newton, Connecticut

crying angel“Dear God,
We come to You with broken hearts,  surrendering the catastrophe that has occurred today in Connecticut. We cannot comprehend the darkness that led to this, or the suffering of those who have loved and lost […..] May those who died find joy in the immortal realms. May those who mourn them be comforted in this hour of their agony. And may our prayers and actions be guided by You, dear God, to create a world where this occurs no more.  Amen”~Marianne Williamson

As a nation we mourn the loss of innocent lives and in many ways the a loss of our own innocence. We mourn and we are angry. How could this happen? Why did it happen?  The horrific event in Newton, Connecticut has made many people angry. There’s nothing wrong with being angry. We should be angry but we also must find a way to make sense out of a senseless act and turn the anger into prayer. That said, let us not merely sit at home and put prayers out there. We can and must engage in active prayer.

Prayer in action!

My niece Jordan Taitel posted this on Facebook; “Many people today have been posting “praying for the victims and their families” or messages along those lines. How many of us, however, actually stopped and prayed for the victims? Let us all stop our busy lives for a second and say a prayer that this sort of senseless violence ends. Then lets pray by doing. In hebrew the word for worship and the word for work are the same. AVODAH. We can worship  through doing  work. Write your congressman a letter asking for stricter gun control, ask for an end to future violence. Prayer is not only a silent conversation between you and your God. Prayer can be action. Both are important. Please, take action, and hopefully we can prevent this from happening in the future.”

Jordan most eloquently stated a very simple truth. “Prayer is not only a silent conversation between you and your God. Prayer can be action.” It is time to make our prayers active.  Not doing anything does nothing. Hoping and praying someone else will do it also does nothing. It is up to each of us to make our prayers active by letting our voices be heard not just by God but by our legislators and government. Let us speak up not in anger but in prayer and with love. Support Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Write Congress to implement  gun control legislation. I truly believe that what happened at the Sandy Hook school goes well beyond the intention of our second amendment right to bear arms. Two of the guns used were legally purchased, registered and in the home.

Prayer in action!

My friend Thomas Springer wrote: “There will never be words to express the loss today. What we can do is act. Stop blaming this and that and quit saying if only this or that. Get out of the comfort of your home and go sponsor an at risk teen. Make a difference in the life of someone in need in your neighborhood. Become involved in your community. It’s nice to light candles and have discussions and pray for all the victims. But how about using your gifts and resources to help some of the wayward kids in your town. There will always be time to blame and discuss but for someone tonight that needs the love and compassion of others to help learn how to live a proper life we are letting the chance to help them slip away.   We are stewards of our communities and for that we are all responsible.”

It is time to engage in active prayer. Pray! Embrace your loved ones. Mourn for the children, the families and all who have suffered at the hands of the broken soul who committed this act.  Connect with your unique vibration of love  and allow it to flow through you. Listen and hear the cries of those crying out for help. Send them love and light and then take action. Put prayer in action by sponsoring an at risk teen. Become involved in your community.

This is a wake up call for all of us. Take a moment from your all too busy day and think of ways to  help those who need it and are crying out for help. Use your gifts and resources to put prayers in motion. Pray for innocent lives lost. Pray for our own innocence lost then make that prayer active by taking action!~Shine Your Light Debbie

BE FEAR-LESS!

“I  learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The  brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that  fear.”~Nelson  Mandela

Does fear rule your decisions? Are you conquering your fears or are they conquering you? Fear is actually an important emotion which helps protect you from legitimate danger. It is an instinctual part of you which gives you present time information for your survival.

Fear is very useful, such as you following your intuition  telling you to get out of harms way;  BUT useful as it is it’s also an energy which has the power (if you let it) to keep you stuck and stop you from creating or moving forward based on real or imagined “pictures”. Being fear-less does not mean you don’t have fear it means you take time to find out if those fears are real or imagined. It means lessening your imagined fears.

What is it that you fear and why do you fear it? If fear is not being caused by something happening in the present moment it is an energy or picture. According to Wikipedia if you are not in imminent danger ” fear almost always relates to future events, such as worsening of a situation, or continuation of a situation that is unacceptable.” From an energetic viewpoint, you have energy stuck in a picture. It isn’t until you de-energize the picture, call your energy back and clear it that you will break the hold it has on you. Fear is full of resistance and the energy of fear is not in alignment with your playful spirit and it’s possible that the fear is not even yours!

“We  gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really  stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we  cannot.”~Eleanor  Roosevelt

There are times when fear is so gripping one can’t move. This is the time to look fear in the face and really examine what’s really going on inside. What is the picture or thought you hold? Are you afraid of not being perfect? Are you afraid of being ridiculed for your choices? Did someone once tell you couldn’t do something or invalidate your creation? Do you feel you don’t  deserve happiness, excitement, a wonderful relationship, an abundant life so you’re afraid of creating it or do you fear if you move forward to create it that it might be taken away?

Whatever you fear it’s important to find the picture which gets stimulated to cause that fear. Once you find it, it’s not just about letting the picture or energy go it’s about empowering yourself and standing in your own truth. You will notice if you look at your fears that they are probably based on something someone told you or a painful experience from the past. For instance if you were hurt deeply or invalidated  it’s a good thing to look at how those (possibly) deep-set fears effect your current decisions or lack thereof.

Our  deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are  powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens  us.”~Marianne  Williamson

Look fear in the face and BE FEAR-LESS!  When fear rears its ugly head and stops you in your tracks, look inside and ask yourself if it is based on present time facts or past time pictures. If it is the former, of course listen and do what you need to do for your safety. If it is the latter look fear in the face and say: “HA I laugh at you! You don’t have a hold on me! Be gone!” Amusement goes long way!

You have the power to become the fearless tiger who knows whether to flee or stand up for itself.  Do not give in to fears of inadequacy. Like the tiger you are swift, brave, powerful and graceful. Have no fear of your light and creativity! Be fear LESS! Fill up with light and grace and ease. Be the playful, creative spirit you were meant to be and already are!~Shine Your Light Debbie
