You ARE a Soul; You have a body….

soulYou do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.

How often do we forget or get the two mixed up? It is in remembering our soul we can step out of our pain, move away from ego based body responses and change our circumstances.

Remembering we are a soul reminds us of our infinite existence and allows us to tap into lifetimes of experience. It reminds us to take care of our bodies which are only here for a finite amount of time.

Each time we say hello and acknowledge ourselves as souls we are breathing life into our spirit. We are making our spirit come alive within us. We are acknowledging we are MORE than just a body. We are acknowledging our divinity.

Remembering we are a soul also means taking responsibility for the body we have. Caring for our bodies is paramount to enlivening our spirit. It gives our spirit a space to come alive, to bring forth and infuse all we do with enthusiasm and joy. Think about it this way; Do you take care of the things you have? The things you have are not who you are but you care for them. The things you have do not define you. Your body does not define you for you are so much more.

It’s important to note that being a soul with a body is not mutually exclusive. In other words in this lifetime one simply cannot exist without the other. Your spirit lives forever, your body does not. When you bring your spirit alive from within you strengthen the process of working in harmony with all that you have and all that you are.

Remember…You do not have a soul. You ARE a soul. You have a body. Bring your spirit to life within you by remembering!~Shine Your Light Debbie

Winter Solstice 2013

Honoring the Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice 2013“solstices — summer or winter — are a chance to still ourselves inside, to behold the glory of the cosmos, and to take a breath with the Sacred. Solstice also gives us the opportunity to ask whether or not we are still on the correct course.”

HAPPY SOLSTICE!  While this the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere it is a day for celebration. Among other things it serves as a reminder that darkness is only temporary and the sun will return to brighten our darkest days.

As in ancient times choose this day to celebrate and bid a fond (or not so fond) farewell to the darkness. From this day forward turn towards the sun with #hope & #faith and simply allow the light to fill you up!

I found a wonderful article via Huffington Post on  honoring the winter solstice. Honor your journey and know that periods of darkness are ALWAYS followed by periods of light.~Shine Your Light Debbie
