Thanksgiving and Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving“Gratitude  is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse  to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.”~Henry  Van Dyke

Giving thanks is not the same as having gratitude and appreciation. Having gratitude and appreciation is your inner embracing, owning and “having” those things which have manifested in your life.

Gratitude is an inner feeling. The acknowledgement for those things you already have. Having gratitude and appreciation is an inner expression of peace and contentment. In every sense gratitude and appreciation are vibrational messages felt deep in your soul that have the ability to shift your perception from negative to positive.

Giving thanks differs in that by giving thanks you are expressing in words or deeds the inner feeling. By giving thanks in any form whether it be a simple, heartfelt, verbal “thank you”, shouting it from the rooftops, writing a note, donating your time or money to help those less fortunate or saying prayer you are showing and giving gratitude and appreciation.

Do you EXPRESS your gratitude and appreciation to your loved ones?

Often we remain silent and do not express  our inner feelings to those for whom we have the deepest gratitude and appreciation. We might hold them dear on our hearts but do not express it as often as we should. Why do we hold back? Are you thanking those who mean the most?

Thanksgiving is wonderful time to visit your inner world to find gratitude and appreciation for all that you are, all that you have, and for those who helped you with valuable lessons (and even challenges) along the way. Once you connect with your inner gratitude it is time to express what is in your heart.

Say thank you to those who may not know how grateful you are. Don’t assume they know. Give thanks for your abundance by giving back. The greatest expression of living in abundance is giving. Many are struggling right now and your thanks-giving might be the very thing they need to find hope and a moment of peaceful joy.

Silent giving (on an energetic level) says thank you but your soul will burst with contentment when you express it in physical form.  Follow the “impulse” to express your heartfelt thanks. Allow what is inside to be seen and heard by word or deed. Why not make it a daily practice? Start now and by the end of the year you will create a beautiful habit of thanking those you are grateful to!

I would be remiss if I did not say thank you to all of YOU. To my family, friends and readers, my gratitude and appreciation is endless. I thank you for filling my heart with love. Your kind notes, love and support lives with me daily. Thank you for reading and sharing and caring. We are creating a healing vibration that cascades out and touches others. Thank you with all my heart! Happy Thanksgiving! Bountiful blessings to you and yours!~Shine Your Light Debbie

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” ~L.R. Knost

There is something about that quote that touches the very core of my soul. Lately I’ve asked the question “is this all there is?”. I never thought at this time in my life I’d be asking that question. Even though that’s the question of the day (I tend to ask a lot questions in a day) maybe “is this all there is?” is more about being in a transitional place of deciding what comes next.

Maybe I’m simply in the “ordinary, mundane and routine” place of going through the motions, working (almost) all the time just to stay ahead of the bills and not taking enough time for myself because I haven’t yet chosen what I’d like to create.

Or maybe asking the question “is this all there is?” is what prompts me (us) to look at life as a series of adventures which includes the ‘amazing, awful, ordinary, mundane and routine. Or MAYBE what I consider ordinary, mundane or routine is considered EXTRAORDINARY by someone else. Or MAYBE what I consider ordinary, mundane or routine really is extraordinary!

Not one of us is living a perfectly charmed life that doesn’t include a bit of awful, heartbreaking, ordinary mundane and routine. No matter what you think you see or know about someone, we all have good days, bad days, ordinary days, mundane days and routine, business as usual, days.

Seriously though, how boring would it be if we were never challenged? How would we recognize the miraculous, soul-healing, amazing without having anything to compare it to? The bottom line here is life really is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. The good, the bad, the boring, the messy, the uncomfortable; All of it is breathtakingly beautiful!

From Ordinary to Extraordinary!

What’s interesting about the different ‘phases’ or growth periods we experience is how we perceive them. What is ordinary to me might seem extraordinary to you. The mundane for me might be exhilarating for you. Have you ever considered the mundane moments are about taking a breather in preparation for the excitement?

There will be a time, not so far from now, that you will look back on this phase of your life and instead of condemning it or beating up on it… Instead of blaming or guilting, you will feel appreciation for it, because you will understand that a renewed desire for life was born out of this time period that will bring you to physical heights that you could not have achieved without the contrast that gave birth to this desire.”~Abraham Excerpted from Boston, MA – October 4th, 1997

Yes, we all go through phases but those phases are not who we are. We are the spirit and soul who lives those experiences and those experiences are to be embraced and appreciated and yes, sometimes even forgiven.

I don’t know. Maybe this really is “all there is” but if it is, I’m good with it because it’s all beautiful. Each phase, every ‘awful’, ‘mundane’, ordinary, and routine turns beautiful. It’s all beautiful really.

Each is an integral part of a breathtakingly beautiful life….so   “Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. [Because] That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”~Shine Your Light Debbie
