To Heal Yourself and Others, Promise Yourself….

umbrellaToday’s post is a healing message. This morning while searching for a quote I came across a wonderful passage that truly captures self-healing as way of healing ourselves and others.

I was profoundly struck by the following words at the end; “To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

In order to heal others, the best thing we can do is be true to ourselves and be the best we can be. It is a commitment or promise we must make with ourselves. Here is the full passage:

Promise Yourself

“To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”
~Christian D. Larson, Your Forces and How to Use Them

Yes! “Think well of yourself and proclaim this fact to the world not in loud words but great deeds.” Be true to yourself. Be in alignment with your goals. Love yourself in this way and heal others in the process!~Shine Your Light Debbie

Seasons Greetings + A Message for 2017 from My Heart to Yours!

Dear Beautiful Souls,

What a year it’s been. I don’t need to remind you that 2016 was truly a year of the unexpected. If the world feels upside down or inside out, you are right. Yes, it’s much like the cat was let out of the proverbial bag. As we all prepare to say good-bye and good riddance to 2016 there is much to reflect upon.

We experienced exciting highs and challenging lows but through it all, there are those who began separating from the ego and connecting as souls. We will continue to experience a spiritual revolution in 2017. We will see some unlikely souls who were previously silent step forward. We will also experience the emergence of light beings as we open our minds and hearts with expanded awareness.

The New Year will bring many opportunities and each of us will be called on to do our part. It’s time to find neutral, step up and shine from the inside out.

In times of great change there are always blessings. Now is the time to count those blessings. As you reflect upon 2016 be sure to take special note of your blessings. It is remembering those blessings and moments of joy that help us move through any sorrow or pain.

In the hustle bustle of the parties and over indulgence make sure to take time to relax, reflect, regroup and refocus. Connect with your blessings and literally breathe them into your soul. Imagine bathing yourself in gentle waves of  God’s golden light.

Wishing you and your families a beautiful season filled with miracles and light. I hope you know how much you are loved and appreciated! With Much Love, Light and Laughter Debbie

Let us begin again in love…

forgiveIn honor of Yom Kippur and with love I share with you this lovely “Litany of Atonement” by Rob Eller-Issacs.

“For remaining silent when a single voice would have made a difference-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.
For each time that our fears have made us rigid and inaccessible-
I forgive myself, I forgive you: We begin again in love.
For each time that we have struck out in anger without just cause-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.

For each time that our greed has blinded us to the needs of others-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.
For the selfishness which sets us apart and alone-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.
For falling short of the admonitions of the spirit-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.
For losing site of our unity-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.
For those and so many acts both evident and subtle which have fueled the illusion of separateness-
I forgive myself, I forgive you; We begin again in love.”~Reverend Rob Eller-Issacs from “Litany of Atonement”

Super (New) Moon + Solar Eclipse + Equinox! Ride the Wave on March 20, 2015!

Super Moon, equinox, solar eclipse. Ride the waves on March 20As if it’s not enough to handle the energy of a super moon, a new moon, an equinox or a solar eclipse individually we will have a rare opportunity to experience all three, in the same week, on the same day!

Hold on to your hats folks the wave of energy is on its way! Actually the energy is already effecting us but with a bit of self-care you will successfully ride the wave of this energetic tsunami!

First let’s look at the energy of the Super Moon. A super moon occurs when the moon is at or closest to the earth in a particular orbit. In short, what’s going to happen during this eclipse is the Earth, Moon and Sun will all be in a line, with Moon in its nearest approach to Earth. This is a great time to look at your spiritual alignment between body and spirit as well as your alignment with the earth.

Riding the energy wave doesn’t mean you let go of your grounding! In fact it’s just the opposite. With all the energy stirred up and getting ready for release it’s important you re-ground and center yourself in present time. You may have already noticed your meditation space shifting in the past couple of days (I know I have.) If you’ve noticed a shift or you find it difficult to meditate just remind yourself you’re feeling the approach of the energy wave.

Another aspect caused by a Super Moon is heightened emotions. If you’ve found yourself extra emotional and there’s no reason for it, this might be why. Again, check your grounding and give those emotions space to flow. Like the tides, our emotions ebb and flow. Let them.

Now, let’s look at the energy of a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly in between the earth and the sun. It momentarily blocks out the light from the sun.

Eclipses signify endings and beginnings. They literally ‘eclipse out’ things in your life that no longer serve you and free up your energy to create anew. The equinox is a wonderful time to create and grow new experiences, ideas and to finally start those projects you’ve been ready to put into motion.

The eclipse will help you move out anything that’s been standing in your way but as with all healing energy work, you have to WANT to release what no longer serves you or gets in your way. There’s power in this eclipse but you don’t have to get steam rolled under it. Choose to ride the wave and enter a new beginning for yourself!

Another important note is this particular cosmic event (according to NASA) will have an effect on the power systems; It will have a direct effect on everyone who is sensitive to energy. Keep breathing and take solace that after this 2015 equinox eclipse, the next solar eclipse at the March equinox will happen on March 20, 2034. Then there will only be two more in this century: 2053 and 2072.

The energy of the Spring Equinox is all about planting the seeds, growth and renewal. The energetic combination will truly offer us a gift. We all can change directions, illuminate the darkness, release that which no longer serves and warm our hearts and minds with the coming sun.

So grab your surf board, give yourself a new grounding cord and lets ride the wave of this one! Nothing but leaving the past behind, opening up your creativity, and riding off into new, brighter horizons!~Shine Your Light Debbie

Healing Message

Say YES to What Supports You!

Healing Message“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” ~Edmund Hillary

Do you say “yes” to what supports you? Are you even recognizing support as support? Most of us don’t like to ask for help and support lest we seem weak and unable to support ourselves.

The reality is when you start recognizing and saying “yes” to those people or situations that are actually supporting you and saying “no” to those that don’t you are actually taking charge and supporting yourself in the process.

The universe is here to support you!

First and foremost the universe and your very spirit is here to support you but how often have you pushed away the seemingly inane experience which might actually be the very support you’re looking for? At first this may feel a bit like taking a leap of faith but a little faith goes a long way. When you meet challenges with faith and trust that you are supported and not alone you are starting to say “yes” to yourself. Saying “yes” to yourself is you trusting yourself and then you can start saying “no” to those things which don’t support you.

When a challenge be it emotional, physical or otherwise comes your way, take a deep breath, ask for support and be aware of the support that comes your way. Support is not support if you push it away or resist it. Support is not support if you’re not aware of it. Support is also not support if you’ve created a perfect picture or illusion of what you think it should be. Be open to the possibilities that come your way.

Keep an open mind to what you are receiving. Yes, there will be people and situations that come your which don’t support you but with an open mind give yourself complete permission to say no. With every opportunity that presents itself ask yourself ‘does this support me?’ and if the answer is YES then by all means say YES.

Conquer the mountain of ego and pride!

Most often it is our ego and pride which get in the way of our saying “yes” to support. We all want to be perceived as strong but how many of us really have it all together in perfect harmony? Stop worrying about how people perceive you. Send your ego and pride on a vacation and say “no” when they get in the way.

If you were starving and someone gave you a sandwich and cup of coffee would you say ‘no this doesn’t support me’ because it’s not a steak and glass of wine? If you didn’t have any shoes and someone offered you a pair would you say ‘no this doesn’t support me’ because the shoes don’t go with my outfit?

Those may seem like ridiculous examples but if you think back to a few of the things you said no to in the past, there are probably things that are similarly ridiculous. At the time you may have said ‘no’ because your ego and pride got in the way.  Ego and pride are the little voices that say the support that presents itself somehow diminishes you.

Conquer the mountain of ego and pride by making a mindful, conscious choice to say “yes” to anything and everything that supports you! If you really did said no because it truly didn’t support you, take note of what you learned from that experience. Just make sure ego and pride don’t get in the way of saying “yes”.

The universe and spirit are here to support you. Saying “yes” to those things which support you leads you to a place of being able to receive support which in turn brings you more support. Say “yes” to that which supports you and “no” to that which doesn’t.  Take a journey in YES and see where it leads! ~Shine Your Light Debbie

A Spiritual Message from a Cactus; Nourish it or…?

cactus-with-leaves-2Spiritual messages and reminders come in many forms but no matter how or when they come it is important to learn what they are trying to tell us. Our spirits must be nourished and filled with dreams, passion, enthusiasm and creativity or they eventually shrivel up into an empty shell and die of thirst…

A few days ago I was ready to let go of the last remains of a cactus I (barely) kept alive for over 25 years. Truth be told it’s been sitting dead on my windowsill for some time but I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. That cactus was the first thing I bought when I moved out of my parents house. Perhaps it represented a right of passage or perhaps it represented life itself. Whatever it represented at any given time my heart is saddened by the realization that I killed what was once a living, breathing thing.

I remember when I bought it and if memory serves it was only about 12 inches high. I cared for it faithfully. It outgrew its pot, was replanted and grew some more. I was quite proud of how it was flourishing with new “arms” sprouting all the time. What started out one taller spine with one little arm was over 5 feet tall with dozens of arms! It was a beautiful shade of green with little leaves constantly sprouting from the end of the arms and main spine. Although it started to fall over to one side and I could no longer move it, I would turn the pot so it would rest against the wall. I felt and communicated with the spirit in that cactus and knew that as long as I gave it nourishment it would stay happy, healthy and growing.

One day I had a cleaning person come to my apartment and when I returned home from work, there was my cactus tipped over on the floor. The main spine had split and a few of the arms were dangling from the place where they were once firmly attached. They oozed white liquid and I clearly remember crying hysterically about my broken and obviously bleeding cactus. Sadly I could not save the main spine but I did replant one of the small arms. It took root quickly and season after season it sat on my windowsill and grew although not as full or tall as its mother.

For whatever reason, I stopped watering my cactus as often as necessary even though it would tell me what it needed by turning slightly brown. I would look at it and be too tired or too busy to simply get a glass of water to water it. I’d tell myself ‘I’ll water it tomorrow’ and maybe I would get to it,  but soon my tomorrows became more frequent. A cactus has an amazing resilience. If it doesn’t have water it lays dormant using little energy to live but after so many tomorrows (about 3 years worth) my cactus was brown and shriveled. I wept as I moved it from the windowsill to the front door so I could get rid of it. Yes it was dead and it was finally time to let it go.

The day after I moved the cactus I put it back into its corner home to take a picture for this post and I noticed green at the tips of the spine and arms. Wait, maybe it’s not dead after all! Is it possible to bring it back to life after years of neglect? Could a bit of water, and love and light make a difference? I don’t know if my cactus will fully spring to life again but I can tell you that for now it is watered and the small green tips are getting greener and expanding.

Like the cactus our spirits are very much alive inside. We are more resilient than perhaps we give ourselves credit for. At times we may feel ‘dormant’  but once we begin nourishing our spirits with love, excitement, passion and light we have the ability to come back to life.  If you’ve had a stressful time or painful experience it is natural to want to push it aside, isolate or dull the pain  so you can’t feel it but a sprinkling of forgiveness and love goes a long way! Your spirit may be calling out for water now. Find the nourishment it needs! Your spirit wants to shine brightly and light your way.

As long as your heart is beating and you have breath in your body there is always hope. It’s never too late to nourish your spirit and find the spark within. If you are always too busy or too tired or stressed to nourish your spirit and you want to wait until tomorrow that’s fine but how many tomorrows will it take before you wake up to find years have passed? There’s no tomorrow better than today to start nourishing your spirit.

What are you enthusiastic about? What do you love? What are you passionate about? What excites you? Find those things and live vibrantly again! Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Choose today to nourish your spirit and soul!~Shine Your Light Debbie
