When Going With The Flow Includes Rest….

Lake Michigan Peace“Sometimes I feel like if you just watch things, just sit still and let the world exist in front of you – sometimes I swear that just for a second time freezes and the world pauses in its tilt. Just for a second.”~Lauren Oliver

Sometimes ‘going with the flow’ means rest for your mind, body and spirit. Last night I went to bed at 9:30pm with every intention of reading. I almost instantly fell asleep with the book in hand.

This morning I noticed all the effort I’ve been experiencing. I was pushing to communicate with clients. Pushing to clear energy. Pushing to get my new website in order. Pushing to make time for meditation and beating myself up for not writing an inspiring blog post.

Lately I’ve been in a place of “hurry up and finish”, “just get it done now”. I’ve been in effort trying to make my lengthy “to do” list into a fully completed “tah dah” list. The problem is that most of the tasks I need to complete could not possibly get finished in one day. Pushing doesn’t help and all the effort (and resistance causing the pushing) is, quite frankly, exhausting!

I constantly hear those tiny but loud voices pulling me in this or that direction. I know you know of the voices I’m talking about. I’d even bet you’ve heard those voices every now and again! The voices are the dialogues in your head that keep you doing and acting instead of finding stillness and taking pause; the voices that tell you, you should be doing something other than meditating, or resting or really anything you are trying to do for yourself.

My tiny, loud voices acted as a control and because I listened to them, I was ungrounded, unbalanced and unable to focus on any task for very long. What happened was I allowed the energy THAT ISN’T MINE to control my experience (set the energy) instead of me taking charge (setting the energy for myself) and FLOWING IN MY CREATIVITY.

I recognized and acknowledged that the “push me, pull you” thoughts did not serve me well. I was exhausted and simply needed space to be. I needed to rest and relax instead of constantly pushing. With that in mind I decided to take a break from my usual morning routine.

One early morning instead of drinking coffee and scrolling through Facebook, I took a chair to the beach to meditate. I didn’t realize it then but my spirit was guiding me to the very thing I needed most. As the sounds of the city turned into the gentle sound of Lake Michigan waves lapping upon the shore I turned my attention within. (Click here to see the video I took.)

In my meditation I saw how much I’ve been controlled and, at times, consumed by the thoughts pulling me in every direction. Sitting in my beach chair I allowed the sound of the waves to envelop me in peaceful repose. I allowed stillness to replace the loud voices.

The 50 minutes I spent at Oak Street beach shifted my reality and it all happened before 8:30am! Right before the end of my meditation I chose the vibration I wanted for the day. (Trust me, if you’ve never done this before it’s a life changer!) I chose to “go with MY flow” instead of pushing or pulling or struggling. I gave myself permission to focus on finishing one thing at a time. Starting with this post!

The world has become loud and angry and it can be overwhelming. Our busy-ness can be overwhelming. Sometimes we need to take a moment to rest and recharge mind, body, spirit and soul.

Notice if the flow you’ve been going with is even yours. Take a moment to come back to yourself and say bye-bye little voices I’m in charge today.  Change things up and take a moment to rest, recharge and reset! I went to the beach. Where will you go to clear, rest and recharge?~Shine Your Light Debbie

Earthquakes, Earth Energy, Grounding and the 1st Chakra

Earth Energy and GroundingThe earth is in a big growth period at the moment and the energy is very stirred up. You may be finding it difficult, if not near impossible, to ground, center and feel safe. The earthquakes going on around the world in recent days are indicators of a shift and release of energy.

Each of us has a connection with the earth from our first chakra. Located at the base of the spine, this energy center helps us feel safe among other things. The earth has changed and therefore our grounding must shift and change to make our first chakra and body feel safe.

If you’ve felt a bit panicky or out of whack you may be feeling the effects of your connection with the earth if you haven’t checked in with yourself in a while. Also, when the internal energy of the earth is stirred up you might be bringing in too much earth energy for your body to handle.

It is time to re-establish our connection with the earth and turn down how much earth energy we bring in so we are in alignment and present time with the earth. The Vernal Equinox is quickly approaching and it’s important to embrace and welcome our internal growth in addition to watching the earth Spring to life after a long cold winter.

Grounding

Take a deep breath and bring your attention to rest behind your eyes in the center of your head. Imagine you are sitting there in the middle of a golden light. From that place notice the base of your spine where your first chakra is located. Send a simple hello from the center of your head to the base of your spine. Breathe into the warmth of the golden light as you do this. Now from an effortless place, create a connection or line of energy from the base of your spine to the center of the earth.

You may want to use an image of a tree rooted deeply into the ground. Now imagine yourself connecting with the calm, nurturing center of the planet. Feel Mother Earth’s warm embrace. Allow Mother Earth to comfort you with that connection. Breathe deeply and slowly release any stress or anxiety you’re holding on to.

Continue to acknowledge your new connection with the earth as you breathe and release. Notice if you’re feeling different with this new connection. If you’re feeling uncomfortable at any point, just breathe into it and allow whatever it is to be released. Just breathe and release.

Turn Your Earth Energy Down

Although you have established a connection with the earth to feel safe and release, you are bringing in earth energy through your feet. If you feel “buzzy” or overwhelmed it’s a good time to notice your feet connected to the ground. Set your intent to only bring in as much earth energy as you need. You may need more, you may need less so just set an overall intent to bring in as much as you need and once again notice how you’re feeling.

Gold Suns

Now that you’ve re-established your connection with the earth, released and set your intent to bring in only as much earth energy as you need, it’s time to fill up! Imagine a beautiful, joyful golden sun above your head. Bring that golden sun right in through the top of your head with the intent of filling up anywhere you released energy. You can create and bring in as many golden suns as you need or want. Fill up until you’re overflowing and bathed in golden light.

Just as you are growing and changing so too is the earth. There will be more earthquakes and weather patterns will continue to change. We are entering into an era where powerful shifts will be coming more often and if you know how to ground and re-new your connection you will be infinitely more comfortable.

The best thing about grounding is you can do it anywhere, at any time to change how you feel and bring a sense of safety to your body. Why not give it a try? ~Shine Your Light Debbie
