Can you hear me now?

Remember the game “telephone” from when you were a child? That’s the game where one person whispers a sentence or two to another, then they whisper it to someone else and so on, until finally when everyone has told everyone else, the last person says the words out loud.

Perhaps I even as I described the game it gave you a chuckle. No matter what was whispered in the ear of the first person, the last person rarely had the words correct. If you remember, sometimes the sentence was complete gibberish and made no sense at all! 🙂

At the end of the game, everyone usually laughed as the person who made up the sentence(s) stated what it was supposed to be in the first place. Although it is a fun game, it clearly illustrates some of the challenges one can encounter in daily communications.

Have you ever had someone completely misunderstand something that you clearly stated? Of course there is the obvious thought that maybe you didn’t communicate clearly. It could also be based on the intent of the communication itself.

BUT it is also possible that the person HEARING what you were trying to say was hearing you through the “filters” of their own personal experiences! If this happens, not only are they are no longer “hearing” YOU but the communication stops.

Just like in the telephone game, they are hearing what they “think” they heard and while they are processing whatever button you inadvertently pushed, they can’t hear anything else. 

When you are aware that this has happened, the tendency is to try to fix it or heal them to clear it up. The other thing that may happen is that you blame yourself. Either way, if someone can’t hear what you are trying to communicate, there isn’t anything you can say or do to clear it up in that moment.

So, what do you do if you feel someone has misunderstood you? Well, you can begin by forgiving yourself. 🙂 This is particularly important if you think you said something wrong! It is possible that you didn’t say anything wrong per se but that you hit an already tender spot (a picture they are working on clearing.)

The next thing you can do is to allow that person the space they need to process. If you try to heal them or fix it, in effect it’s like digging a hole for yourself. Keep in mind that whatever button you pressed, it’s theirs and you don’t have to be responsible for someones else’s “stuff”. 🙂 

All in all just remember that you communicate based on your own personal experiences and others hear you through theirs. Be kind to yourself and those you are communicating with. Come from a place of loving intent and forgive yourself and others if things go amiss. Shine Your Light~Debbie

Your Inner Sanctuary~

imagesThe famous philosopher Socrates said “Beware the barreness of a busy life”. I think that’s a very interesting quote! Have you noticed these days how busy we all are? Much of our attention is focused on the outside, what needs to be done today, tomorrow…or right NOW.  

Our brains are moving in a thousand different directions. How do we mangage our jobs (or lack thereof), families and responsibilities? How can we create and manifest more money? Find the love of our lives? Be FREE? Why is this or that happening in our lives?

As the holiday’s are quickly approaching we find ourselves with even more “busy-ness” and yes, stress! Wouldn’t it be great if we could all experience a peaceful, Norman Rockwell painting type of holiday? Or how about  just have a moment  when the world wasn’t buzzing in our heads so loud it’s almost deafening? I call that ‘loud head’ btw…not exactly a psychic term but I think it describes it pretty well! 🙂

It seems to me that the “barreness” Socrates is talking about is in many ways our own spirit. The joy of being safe in the body, at peace and in alignment with the earth, the universe and our very own selves. Occupying the space of our INNER SANCTUARY!

There is much talk about centering, alignment, creating (manifesting), being in the body etc. There are different beliefs & modalities as to how to get there, how to BE and how to manage it all in this world of “busy-ness”.  It can also feel very unsafe to be in the midst of it. The reality is that it is a challenge at best with our busy lives to merely sit down, let alone quiet the mind and be still.  After all there’s so much we need to DO! So what’s the bottom line? Well, read on dear ones!

All of this has to do with YOU taking CARE of YOURSELF! Actually taking the time to heal yourself, rejuvinate and bring back YOUR energy so you have access to it! 🙂 This of course means ALL OF YOU! MIND, BODY, SPIRIT AND SOUL!

 Not only CAN you do this but WHEN you do this, you will find you have more energy, less effort and things will begin to manifest themselves. Here are some interesting questions for you to ponder…. Do you care for yourself, answer to your own needs, nurture yourself and take as much time for YOU as you do for others? Do you take the time to quiet your mind, make your body safe, focus on your essence and what makes YOU happy? Do you feed your spirit & soul just as you feed your body?

For me, the answer lies in finding my INNER SANCTUARY. It’s really amazing how your “reality” will shift when you take time out of your day to access your inner sanctuary. It is a place of peace, a time to step out of the “busy-ness” of daily life. A place of safety where you can begin to clear whatever you have taken on from others. It is a place to re-discover all that is YOU and get in alignment with the flow of your desires & dreams.

Getting grounded and making the body safe is the first step. When you are grounded, releasing all you have taken on and focusing on the flow of energy you can effortlessly move into your INNER SANCTUARY. Your own personal place of peace & calm. There is a true joy in feeling YOUR energy flowing in YOUR body! This is how you care for your spirit! It’s how you heal, rejuvinate and access the unique essence that is your true self.

As I mentioned in the beginning, the holiday’s are quickly approaching (in the States Thanksgiving is merely 2 weeks away) and it will be even more important to find time to care for ourselves.  We will be inundated with  added obligations from family & friends. It can be an overwhelming and stressful time for many. When you have the tools* and take time to care for your spirit, you will experience more joy and the true spirit of the holidays!~Shine Your Light~Debbie
