“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” ~L.R. Knost

There is something about that quote that touches the very core of my soul. Lately I’ve asked the question “is this all there is?”. I never thought at this time in my life I’d be asking that question. Even though that’s the question of the day (I tend to ask a lot questions in a day) maybe “is this all there is?” is more about being in a transitional place of deciding what comes next.

Maybe I’m simply in the “ordinary, mundane and routine” place of going through the motions, working (almost) all the time just to stay ahead of the bills and not taking enough time for myself because I haven’t yet chosen what I’d like to create.

Or maybe asking the question “is this all there is?” is what prompts me (us) to look at life as a series of adventures which includes the ‘amazing, awful, ordinary, mundane and routine. Or MAYBE what I consider ordinary, mundane or routine is considered EXTRAORDINARY by someone else. Or MAYBE what I consider ordinary, mundane or routine really is extraordinary!

Not one of us is living a perfectly charmed life that doesn’t include a bit of awful, heartbreaking, ordinary mundane and routine. No matter what you think you see or know about someone, we all have good days, bad days, ordinary days, mundane days and routine, business as usual, days.

Seriously though, how boring would it be if we were never challenged? How would we recognize the miraculous, soul-healing, amazing without having anything to compare it to? The bottom line here is life really is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. The good, the bad, the boring, the messy, the uncomfortable; All of it is breathtakingly beautiful!

From Ordinary to Extraordinary!

What’s interesting about the different ‘phases’ or growth periods we experience is how we perceive them. What is ordinary to me might seem extraordinary to you. The mundane for me might be exhilarating for you. Have you ever considered the mundane moments are about taking a breather in preparation for the excitement?

There will be a time, not so far from now, that you will look back on this phase of your life and instead of condemning it or beating up on it… Instead of blaming or guilting, you will feel appreciation for it, because you will understand that a renewed desire for life was born out of this time period that will bring you to physical heights that you could not have achieved without the contrast that gave birth to this desire.”~Abraham Excerpted from Boston, MA – October 4th, 1997

Yes, we all go through phases but those phases are not who we are. We are the spirit and soul who lives those experiences and those experiences are to be embraced and appreciated and yes, sometimes even forgiven.

I don’t know. Maybe this really is “all there is” but if it is, I’m good with it because it’s all beautiful. Each phase, every ‘awful’, ‘mundane’, ordinary, and routine turns beautiful. It’s all beautiful really.

Each is an integral part of a breathtakingly beautiful life….so   “Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. [Because] That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”~Shine Your Light Debbie

Forgive Them…It’s Not Who They Are

“Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.“~Marianne Williamson

As spirits in human form we came here to learn and experience something different.

Although spirit is bright, pure love there are some lessons that come from our all to very human choices and with those choices we occasionally get hurt.

I know it seems counter intuitive to most healers and those focused on healing themselves but there are some who take longer than others to awaken and heal themselves.

Sadly there are some so full of pain they cannot see who they are and they, consciously or unconsciously, inflict pain or cause conflict and drama. One of the reasons it’s so difficult to forgive those who have hurt us is there is something inside of us we need to heal or forgive ourselves for.

We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.~Martin Luther King, Jr.

There is power and freedom in forgiveness. There is healing and peace in forgiveness but the healing must begin with forgiving ourselves first. Those who have hurt us do so because there was a level of trust and expectation on our part.  We cannot control others. We cannot make them treat us fairly; Be honest with us or love us.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean you allow people to continue to hurt you. You forgive them for what they did because they were not aware of themselves enough to recognize that what they did was because of deep-set fear or pain within themselves. You forgive yourself for allowing them to hurt you because you allowed yourself to be vulnerable, open and perhaps unaware they were not ready to “have” you as you are.

Most of us are not Gandhi, Amma, Rumi or Buddha and we are not exempt from having hurt someone in our world at some point. It is part of being human. All we can do is our best. All we can do is be the best and most loving creatures we can. It is why forgiveness is a part of love.

Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.~Mark Twain

Take the path of forgiveness that comes directly from your heart and forgive those who have wronged you. Forgive those who have hurt you. Forgive yourself for making a mistake or judging.

You have it in you the ability emit a fragrance of love so powerful it causes peace and healing for you, for others and the world.~Shine Your Light Debbie
