“Lost time is never found again.”~Benjamin Franklin
When was the last time you scheduled a play date or quiet time with yourself?
Have you ever noticed that no matter how effective you are prioritizing and managing your time it seems as if there’s ‘no time’ left for you?
What if I told you, you have all the time in the world? What if all the articles, and books about time management have less to do with ‘time’ on a clock and more to do with owning your space?
“The timeless in you is aware of life’s timelessness.”~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Have you heard the saying ‘your energy goes where your attention flows’? Just for a moment think about what is most important to you. Is it spending time with family? Relationships (both romantic and friendships)? Creating art? Nurturing your spirit and soul? Now, think about your ‘normal’ day. Do you schedule in time for yourself and those things important to you?
Of course we all have to work and have certain obligations and responsibilities to fulfill within our jobs and to our families, friends and pets BUT are YOU included? Do make space for you? Are YOU scheduled into your schedule?
Entrepreneurs, business owners, telecommuters and stay at home parents (yes, stay at home parents ARE working!) seem to have a challenge scheduling themselves (ourselves) in. They (we) are even more challenged sticking to those appointments.
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
One of the things I’ve always noticed is how we (or others in our lives) seem to pull extra time out of thin air if there’s something we want to experience or do. We reset our daily or weekly schedule so we are sure to include the thing or experience we really, really want to include.
We not only somehow manage to complete our tasks but (generally) seem to complete them in less time and with ease. So what are we waiting for? Why don’t we include time in our daily schedules to create and nurture those things that light us up?
Setting priorities is something we all need to do and, of course, there are time-related deadlines we must meet however we will never have time for ourselves unless we create that space for ourselves. In essence, it’s not about having more time. It’s about including and inviting ourselves to enjoy our OWN space.
It’s about including that which makes our spirits sing. It’s about creating a schedule that INCLUDES rather than excludes ourselves. A schedule that includes time for us to put down our responsibilities to others for a moment. A schedule that includes time for us to nurture and honor our spirit, our creativity and our passion. There’s always time!
Inclusion, for ourselves, means taking time to be mindful of our own needs. It means allowing ourselves the freedom to be who we are which includes making time to cultivate our creativity. Give yourself permission to be creative for no other reason than how good it makes you feel on the inside.
Schedule yourself in. Create space for you to enjoy your own space, nurture your spirit and create something just for you. It’ll make your spirit and body happy!~Shine Your Light Debbie
